LOWTON poets and writers Bill and Elsie Gee and Leigh duo John and Sandre Clays read their works at a towpath literary night.

They took the mike at a 'writing for performance' session at the Old Pear Tree in Frog Lane, Wigan, where Leigh poet Ian Barton will be next Thursday at 7.15pm.

On that occasion Leigh writer Steve Morris will read extracts from his hugely successful and amusing 'Knicker Night and Other Tales'.

John and Sandre will preview their collection 'Rhapsody in Two' before a book launch night on October 22.

Writers, poets, storytellers, singers and musicians or those who simply want to relax, have a beer and soak up local culture are welcome. For more information call 01942 516114.
