WHY was the St Helens link road built at a cost of millions?
Wasn't it to put St Helens on the map by attracting new people to the town? And wasn't the link road seen as a more direct route into the town to help free up the busy East Lancs Road?
If so, why has St Helens Council still not put a sign on the M6 Motorway directing people onto it via the M62?
I have often wondered why the link road is always quiet, but the East Lancs is still very busy. Perhaps a little sign on the motorway would help to get the road used more.
The link road has now been open for more than four years. I wonder how many people have driven south on the M6 looking for the St Helens turn-off and finding it at the busy East Lancs, not the traffic-free link roa?
I moved from St Helens more than three years ago because of the council. Every time I drive past the M62 turn-off leading to the link road I laugh at this this constant reminder of them.
