ATHERTON and Wigan branch of the Cats Protection League volunteers have found homes for over 550 cats.

They also helped many more by giving owners help and advice.

In National Cat Week, which ends on Sunday, they are highlighting the problem of missing cats and advise owners to keep pets indoors at night, have the animal implanted with an identification chip and equipped with a personalised collar.

This week shoppers at Leigh's Asda store or Somerfield in Tyldesley can help the branch by donating tins of cat food in the containers provided to feed the 100 cats and kittens the League has in its care.
