IN answer to J. Homewood's letter (Sept 4) regarding Compulsory Competitive Tendering (CCT), I would like to say that we in the Federation once shared his concerns. But let me assure him that they have all been addressed to the satisfaction of our members.

The Federation is made up of tenants from the various tenants associations and for two years we have had members on the CCT Consumer Panel. Together with councillors and housing officers we have produced a specification which the successful contractor will have to comply with. Tenants representatives have been involved right from the start and will have two members on the selection panel and be included in any monitoring procedure.

CCT will ensure that the tenants get the best service possible and the consumer panel will continue to review and strengthen the specification. This must be good for tenants.

TERRY SPENCER,

chairman.
