RUGBY mad duo Daniel Kennedy and his younger brother, Adam, know all about team work.

The Bickershaw boys who attend Golborne High and play rugby for Ashton Bears ARLFC argue just like any other brothers.

But deep down they couldn't be any closer.

Daniel, 15, deputy head boy at Golborne High and Adam, 12, were both admitted to hospital with pneumonia in December. Three days later Adam was back home, but Daniel became quite poorly and was detained over Christmas.

A hospital visit from Wigan RL stars cheered him up but then in April came the stunning news that Daniel had leukaemia.

Now Daniel is undergoing chemotherapy treatment and in October will be given a bone marrow transplant. Brother Adam is the donor and the operation will take place probably in October at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

"They fight with each other, but they're good mates really," said mum Janet, of Bolton House Road.

"Adam, myself and Daniel's father were tested for compatability and Adam was a perfect match.

"The doctors say we are very lucky."
