SPEEDING motorists could be fined through the post - thanks to new hi-tec laser cameras.
The county council has given Lancashire Police three speed cameras which can take high quality photographic evidence of drivers who break the speed limit.
They will be positioned at mobile locations throughout the county, to help police combat the problem of speeding motorists.
The force's road safety co-ordinator, Chief Inspector Ian Bell, said: "The Constabulary is very grateful for the county council's support.
"I am confident this equipment will help to drive home the message that speeding is an offence we aim to tackle seriously."
County councillor Richard Toon, highways and transportation committee chairman, said: "I am delighted to be handing over the latest equipment aimed at detecting motorists who speed on Lancashire's roads.
"Speed is a major contributory factor in causing injuries on the road and we are pleased to be able to work with the police to make the county a safer place."
