PRESTON Bus appears to have an annoyed passenger (Letters, September 10) who complains of dirty seats and rubbish.
I wonder if the writer is a parent of one of the children who use buses in Preston and surrounding areas. The same children who, after only one journey, leave previously clean buses littered with wrappings of various descriptions, cans, bottles, sandwiches, unwrapped sweets and chewing gum.
For some children, breakfast is a packet of snack food eaten on the bus. The debris can be deposited on the first journey of the day, but unfortunately the same buses are also used on regular services before returning to their depots for cleaning.
The same children walk on the seats, hang like monkeys from the handrails and wander up and down the stairs, ringing the bell, or exercising their vocal chords to see who can make the most noise.
Some passengers while away the time by practising their handwriting on the seats. Regarding smoking, try asking someone to stop. They will deny it or tell you to go on a journey where buses don't go.
I regret that in today's society many people have no respect for person or property. Could it be due to lack of parental control?
