IT IS good to see Cllr Sue Loudon asking people to wait for accurate information before they oppose the provision of housing for the homeless at Briarcroft.

Over the last few months we have seen examples of what can only be described as uninformed and prejudiced opposition to the provision of services such as the use of the old hospice building for people in need of help and care.

Sympathy and understanding for such people where, in the past, values of which our society was rightly proud.

The Labour Party was built on the recognition of society's duties and responsibilities to those in need. In Wigan we have a LABOUR Council, is it too much that they remember these principles rather than giving in to mob rule?
