IT WOULD appear that one of the main reasons for the poor attendance at the recent Hilton Park Festival was the entrance cost of £12 per day.
If the people of Leigh cannot or will not pay this sort of price for entertainment then why all the excitement regarding the proposed Xanadu complex which will cost approximately £18 per hour to use the ski facilities (after the mandatory chargeable lessons).
This just further illustrates that Xanadu would be of little or no benefit to the local community but would be merely a playground for the well-heeled.
On another subject, I see we will soon have yet another supermarket opening in Leigh (in addition to the five already here!)
I cannot see how a town of this size can sustain such a number. This must be yet another blow to local shops, and combined with the impending arrival of Xanadu, can only spell disaster for Leigh town centre and its traders.
