TYLDESLEY boxer Lee Meiger made a quick exit from the Commonwealth Games.

He was knocked out in the first round of his first bout in Kuala Lumpur.

He was caught cold by Northern Ireland featherweight David Lowry, who floored him with a left hook - after just EIGHT seconds.

Meiger, the 20-year-old ABA national finalist, was representing Jersey after moving to the Channel island from Tyldesley.

But Hindley's Andrew Atherton struck gymnastics gold for England.

The youngster dedicated his medal to twin brother Kevin, who is the national skipper but missed the trip with a knee injury.

Andrew was in a four-man team which clocked up winning points on the floor, rings, parallel bars, horse and beam.
