THE row between Lancaster City player Mark Dobie and the club is to be investigated by the Northern Premier League.
Dobie, last season's top scorer, wants to go to Scottish club Gretna. But City say he came to an agreement with them last year which they say he has reneged on by going to train with Gretna and not playing for Lancaster. The club also want £1,000 from Gretna for the player.
After weeks of stalemate the league has been called in to investigate. The player will not be able to play for any other club in the league until the inquiry is over which could take months.
Manager Alan Tinsley opined: "This isn't good for anybody, including the player. I'm glad is going to get sorted out now but that's all I want to say except to say Dobie is not a man of his word."
The other player who had become embroiled in the dispute, Lee Marshall, has now been released from the club and has joined Gretna.
