Leyland Daf captain David Makinson won the toss and elected to bat when the match got underway about 3.35pm.

The first Daf wicket fell at 85 when Stuart Catterall was caught and bowled by Andrew Lawson, the Lancaster professional, for 49.

He hit 3 fours and one six. Duncan Catterall and Alan Murray took the score on to 128 before the former was caught by Paul Taylor off Lawson for an aggressive 45.

He hit 4 fours and one six. Eight runs later Alan Murray was stumped by Ian Parkinson for 35. David Makinson declared with the total on 140 for 3 off 21.4 overs. James Atkins was undefeated with 5 and Alan Richardson with a single.

In reply, Lancaster were left 28 overs and they lost their first wicket at 20 when Phil Dennison was caught by Leyland Daf professional Stephen John off David Makinson for 12. Only two runs later Danny Welbourne was caught behind by Charlie Williams off Chris Liptrott for two.

Andrew Lawson and Ian Parkinson restored the balance with a 65 runs partnership for the third wicket before the former was caught by Atkins off Stuart Catterall for 39.

Lancaster lost their next wicket at 94 when Paul Taylor was caught by Phil Iddon off Alan Richardson for 2, but Ian Parkinson and Luke Phillips remained undefeated with 36 and one respectively.

David Makinson used six different bowlers, including himself, but Lancaster held out for a losing draw.
