BLACKPOOL'S good form continued on Saturday (Sept 12) against Lincoln City at Sincil Bank with a rousing comeback against the Imps.

It started to look pretty grim for the Tangerines when Whitney headed the home side in front on just 12 minutes - from a ball supplied by former Pool winger Lee Philpott.

But Blackpool's away form so far this season has been such that any home team going one up against the Seasiders should be worried.

And, sure enough, comeback king Phil Clarkson put the sides level with a blistering strike less than 60 seconds later.

Young Clark Carlisle built on previous solid performances by venturing up the field whenever he could and caused the Imps' defence no end of problems.

He watched a header just sneak over the bar on 18 minutes and thought he had scored six minutes later but was denied after the referee blew for a foul.

Bardsley again shored the defence up with an excellent performance and managed to clear a shot from Thorpe off the line.

Chris Malkin continued his comeback in battling form as any airbound ball was met by his head and it was his flick-on that led to Clarkson's equaliser.

Philpott tried his luck from about 20 yards three minutes into the second half - obviously forgetting the talent of ex-team mate Steve Banks in goal.

But no Tangerine game is complete without moments of panic.

Colin Alcide found himself in front of an open goal with a clear header only to put it wide of the mark on 55 minutes.

Finally, after scoring a hat-trick in the pre-season to win a contract with the Seasiders, Martin Aldridge slotted home at the far post from a Brett Ormerod cross on 65 minutes to make it 2-1.

The Red Imps put more and more pressure on the Seasiders towards the end of the match but couldn't find their way through the massed ranks of defending Tangerines.
