A LEIGH slimmer who shed an amazing seven stones in 44 weeks is to represent her class in a top competition.

Lynn Cassidy, 38, of Abbey Lane, (left) has been selected to go through to the district finals of Slimming World's Women of the Year contest.

She was voted the best representative by class mates at St Joseph's Sodality Hall.

Lynn, married to Stuart, decided she had to lose weight on medical advice after reaching 18 stone.

She joined Slimming World after failing many other diets and soon realised it would be her saviour.

She said: "I couldn't believe how much food I was eating yet the weight was dropping off. Who would have thought you could have had bacon and eggs every day and still lose weight?

"I am delighted to have been chosen to represent Leigh for the award. I can't believe that after being so quiet and reserved I would be entering such a big contest. I feel such a different person now."

Consultant, Vicki Hunt, a bronze award winner with Slimming World, said: "It is a fantastic achievement to have lost such an amount of weight.

"Lynn is a credit to the class and still attends every week despite reaching her target weight, passing on encouragement and welcoming new members."
