BURNLEY skipper Chris Brass was left to rue the one that got away as the Clarets conceded an injury-time equaliser to Wigan on Saturday.

Brass was adjudged to have conceded a free-kick from which Wigan won the corner that yielded Pat McGibbon's last-ditch goal.

But it looked a harsh decision and Brass was adamant that he hadn't fouled Spanish substitute Roberto Martinez.

"It definitely wasn't a free-kick. I am not going to grumble about it but I would hold my hand up if I was in the wrong.

"Unfortunately they got the free-kick and from the resulting corner they got the goal but you can't harp on about that," he said.

Brass added: "We were very disappointed after we worked hard to lose like that.

"We are just not getting the rub of the green at the minute. We did play well and it's just unfortunate we didn't get three points.

"We are very disappointed but we have just got to pick ourselves up for the game at Man City and hopefully get something out of it."

And Brass insisted there had been positive aspects to emerge from the game.

"It would be nice to be winning but there are a lot of youngsters in the side and you have got to be happy with the way they are progressing and they can take a lot of credit from the game.

"Young Matty Heywood did well on his debut and Chris Scott did ever so well again.

"Hopefully the young lads can learn from the fact that conceding a goal at such a late time is probably the time in a game when you have got to be switched on more and focussed on keeping clean sheet.

"Statistics-wise there are a lot of goals conceded in that last few minutes and unfortunately it seems to be going against us that the moment."
