MUCH has been said concerning President Clinton's lying about his sexual misdemeanours.
But, surely, lying has been part and parcel of politics for generations.
Lies, half-truths and evasions come naturally.
Our entry to the Common Market, now the European Union, has been dominated by lies.
Lie Number One: "There is no question of any erosion of essential national sovereignty" (Edward Health, 1971).
Lie Number 2: "No important new policy can be decided in Brussels without the consent of a British Minister answerable to a British Government and British Parliament" (Labour Government leaflet, 1975).
No mention of the end of our pound.
No mention of our fishing fleet being decimated.
No mention of two European Courts to supercede our Courts.
No mention of foreign unelected bankers controlling our financial reserves in Frankfurt, Germany.
Compared with our liars, Clinton is an innocent!
D BULLEN (Mr), Albany Road, Blackburn.
