A YOUNGSTER was seriously injured in a road accident in Nelson early today.
The boy, aged about 10, was taken to Burnley General Hospital with head injuries after the accident in Lomeshaye Road outside St John Southworth Primary School at about 8.30am.
PC Tim Hitchen said: "It appears that the boy ran out into the road into the path of a Vauxhall Cavalier travelling up Lomeshaye Road.
A spokesman at St John Southworth said the boy was not a pupil at the school.
