KEN Wright has made a shock return to Victory Park as the new manager of Chorley.

The 52-year-old is back at the UniBond League First Division club for a second spell in the manager's hot-seat, nearly 10 years after resigning from the post at the end of the 80s.

He takes over from Dalton Steele who was sacked last month following a disagreement over finances with the club's board of directors.

"I'm delighted to be back at the club because opportunities like this don't come up very often," said Wright.

"I've had a few offers to take over at various clubs recently but none of them were quite like this.

"The potential of the club has always remained the same and I think we can only get stronger now.

"The success I've previously had at the club is all water under the bridge.

"We've got to look to the future now and get this club back where it belongs."

Wright, who will appoint Dave Haslam as his number two, led the Magpies to an epic FA Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and promotion to the Nationwide Conference during his first spell at the club.

He has since had a brief stint as manager of Accrington Stanley and did some scouting work for Burnley last season.
