A TAXI driver suffered a fractured cheekbone when he confronted two men who stood in the road in St James Street making obscene gestures and then banged on his vehicle.

The driver tried to prevent the men leaving the scene but was again punched about his head.

He was taken to hospital and detained for four days while he received treatment for a fractured cheekbone, cuts and bruises.

One of the attackers was white, about 22 years, 5ft 8in, medium build, with short sandy hair. He was wearing a pink shirt and had a gold ring on one finger of each hand.

The other man was white, 6ft tall, aged 18/19 years, thin, with short sandy hair. He was wearing glasses and a sky blue shirt.
