IT'S always nice to meet schools who are taking part in our NIE project when they make trips to our head office and printing plant, and even better when they write to say how much they have enjoyed the visit. More than 50 pupils from Crawshawbooth County Primary School recently made the journey from Rossendale to see how we produce our newspaper, and year six pupil, Laura Nuttall voiced her enthusiasm for a career in journalism, in a letter to the editor:

I AM writing to tell you about my day today when I came with my school to visit your office in Blackburn and then went to Bolton to watch the papers being printed.

I understand that you have to make three editions of your paper every day, which I think is amazing.

I can't wait until I am old enough to become a news reporter because today has made me think that making the newspaper is hard work but fun. I would love to take photographs of special events and write about them and may even get the chance to travel.

My parents want me to be a journalist, but I wasn't so sure about it. After today though, I think I'd rather be a news reporter than anything else. I really enjoyed my visit, so thank you very much.

LAURA NUTTALL, Year six, Crawshawbooth County Primary School. Rossendale.
