WHAT'S in a name? It turned out to be free bottles of pop of the same name for the Blackburn bobbies working on a crime crackdown operation that they called 'Tango' - so impressed were the makers with the opportunity for free publicity . . . er, sorry, its success.

But this, surely, sets a precedent - if not (yet) for the advent of commercially-sponsored police operations on the style of the Kennomeat Krackdown on Dog Fouling, then, perhaps, for much more deliberate thought going into the code names for future anti-crime exercises.

Stand by for Operation Bollinger, Operation Glenfiddich Single Malt, Operation Dows Ten Year Old Crusted Port and more!
