REGARDING Roy Davies' comments (Letters, June 7) about our most successful Petticoat Lane market in several years, I am sure that we would be grateful for his advice on organising next year's event and how he would go about raising £10,000 for charity.

I feel that Mr Davies is typical of people who are quick to criticise and even quicker to disappear when there is voluntary work to be done.

With respect to attractions for children, the donkeys were a great success. The carousel, bouncy castle and swing boats arrived, but the owner was called away by a sudden illness in his family at 9.30am and could not leave his equipment for health and safety reasons.

Perhaps Mr Davies might obtain the correct facts before writing rubbish (something he obviously knows a lot about).
