WELL done for highlighting the ordeal that leukaemia victim Tracey Cullen and her partner, Kevin Taylor, had with the Benefits Agency (LET, June 10).

I think the couple have been treated in a disgusting manner.

Although I don't know them personally, I have been at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, where my husband is also receiving treatment for leukaemia.

My husband recently spent a month on the same unit as Tracey and I used to see Kevin there every day with their baby from morning until night. It was as though the baby and pushchair were attached to him.

Doesn't the Benefit Agency think that the couple have enough to put up with without being treated like second-class citizens?

We know the trauma, worry, anxiety and pressure that they are suffering. Unless you are in a situation like this, nobody knows what you are going through.

I just hope that whoever is responsible for allowing this situation to develop is severely reprimanded and that someone in authority sorts the matter out - like, yesterday.
