VOLUNTEERS have been digging out silt to help make a pond in a park a place for families to enjoy in the future.
The pond in Stubbylee Park, Bacup, has been improved as part of a project arranged by Groundwork Rossendale.
The work has involved creating an island and planting water flora. Artwork will be introduced into the area to incorporate both Stubbylee and neighbouring Moorland Parks in the Irwell Valley Sculpture Trail.
Youngsters from St Saviour's CE School and other schools, Brownies and Scouts have been involved in the project.
The improvements were backed by funding from the Royal Mail which local councillor Jimmy Eaton helped to secure.
