DANISH club Aalborg are set to rescue Anders Andersson from a return to Blackburn Rovers.

The Swedish midfielder was shipped out on loan in October last year and, after a successful season, the move is about to be made permament.

Rovers expect to secure a small fee for the move, with Andersson having a year remaining on his Ewood contract and manager Brian Kidd considering the 25-year-old surplus to requirements.

His loan deal is due to expire at the end of this month but both parties are hopeful an agreement can be hammered out before June 30.

Chief executive John Williams said: "Time is running out on that one but we are hopeful that something will happen with Anders."

However, Rovers other loaned Swedish star Martin Dahlin is still set for a return to pre-season training.

Reports from Germany suggested that Borussia Monchengladbach were keen on buying the striker following his loan spell at Hamburg in the Bundesliga which was dogged by injury.

He also has a year to run on his contract but I understand that Rovers would now consider letting him go on a free transfer.

They have heard of Borussia's interest on the grapevine but no official contact has been made.

The first incoming signing of the summer could well be a back-up keeper, should developments happen in the expected sales of both Tim Flowers and Alan Fettis.
