A RAFFLE to help get vital medical supplies to sick youngsters is being held by Coronation Street star Ian Mercer and Leigh riding instructor Tony Flannery.

The pair, who will be doing a sponsored motorcycle ride across the USA, are raising money for Riders For Health, which ensures medical supplies get through in Third World countries.

Tony, aged 40, has been teaching Ian, aged 38, to ride motorcycles after the two became friends on the set of the ITV soap.

Dad-of-three Tony, who runs The School of Motorcycling in Leigh, is also helping Ian raise cash in the raffle.

Tickets at £1 are available from The Journal office, ESB Motorcycles in Leigh and B&D Motorcycles in Atherton.

On offer is a helmet signed by reigning world superbike champion Carl Fogarty, a framed signed photo of the Coronation Street cast members and a motorcycle training course plus other prizes.

Tickets are on sale until 23 June, with the draw on July 10 by the Mayor of Wigan.
