IF Betty Tebbs (Your Letters, June 11) re-reads my letter of May 28 she will see that I did not question her claim that Nato acted illegally. I simply observed that Milosevic's brutal ethnic cleansing was also illegal. It ignored Articles 2,5,7,9,12,7(2) and 25(I) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The mothers, daughters, sons, father, friends and lovers she mentions were being raped and murdered daily by Milosevic's police and soldiers. Yet she attacks only Nato.
The barbarity began before the April 23 proposal - a proposal rendered unnecessary if decent human behaviour had been practised. And Milosevic's record of lies and deception does not inspire confidence that such a proposal was ever a real alternative.
