LITTLE Stephanie Buckley is well aware of heart health - even at the tender age of 10.

And she has become the 10,000th member of the British Heart Foundation's Artie Beat Club.

To mark the occasion Stephanie, and her Hindley Green Primary School classmates, were visited by Leigh Centurion, Heath Cruckshank, and BHF co-ordinator, Sian Davies, for a special lesson (pictured).

They took part in a fun session on heart health and were given basic training in life saving.

Reinforcing the healthy heart message, Stephanie was presented with a six weeks pass for herself and a friend for a summer holiday action club, donated by Howe Bridge Leisure Centre.

She and her classmates were also given free tickets to a Leigh Centurions' match.

Stephanie said: "I am especially looking forward to the holiday now I've got the action club and match to look forward to."

Class teacher, Barbara Brown, said: "The children have enjoyed the day and learned some important heart health facts at the same time, including life saving techiniques. It's never too young to start."
