A CUMBRIAN-born forward who starred in Saints' trophy-winning sides a generation ago was installed into the club's Hall of Fame at the Past Players' annual dinner on Friday.

Second-rower Dick Huddart who came to Knowsley Road from Whitehaven in 1958, made 209 appearances and scored 76 tries for Saints, was in the Championship team of 1959, and won the Lance Todd Trophy against Wigan in 1961.

Standing 6ft 2in and weighing16 stone, 'Tiger' Huddart was selected for the 1958 and 1962 tours, capped 16 times by Great Britain, and won a Grand Final winner's medal with St. George after emigrating to Australia in 1964.

Ray French was compere and Paul Forber the speaker for this popular memory jerker, which was also attended by past players from Huddersfield, Leigh, Warrington, Widnes, Bradford and Oldham. Saints were represented by directors Eric Ashton and Joe Spencer, and a minute's silence was observed for Alan Prescott, Aubrey Gregory and Derek Bellard, who died during the year.

A vote of thanks was moved to sponsors Matthew Brown, Burtonwood Plastics, Ellison Travel, Expressions Offset, Horton's Carpets, Grundy Haulage caterers John and Mary Dixon and PPA secretary Geoff Pimblett.
