A TEENAGER was the victim of an attempted rape as she walked along a road early today.
The attack happened shortly after midnight as the 18-year-old was walking along Burnley Road, Accrington..
She was grabbed by a man but managed to break free and escape after a struggle.
A 35-year-old man from the Accrington area was arrested at around 4.25am and was due to be questioned by police today.
A police spokesman said officers were also due to speak to the victim, who was left shaken by the attack.
The attack took place on a grass bank opposite the Vauxhall garage on Burnley Road.
The area was sealed off while police teams searched for evidence.
