ELTON'S young spin star Bilal Mustafa was promised his club cap if he picked up five wickets on Saturday - and duly earned it on his final ball!

In doing so the teenager also earned his side a fine seven wicket victory that fired the Leigh Lane outfit into second place in the Bolton Association table.

Finishing with figures of 5 for 34 Mustafa bamboozled the home side who were dismissed for 130.

Professional Greg Dimery chipped in with 3 for 52 and coach Graham Bushell took the remaining wicket to make the Bury lads thankful that the downpours that plagued most of the cricket in the locality didn't stretch to the Wigan area!

In reply Dimery showed his undoubted versitility when he top scored with 54 and was ably assisted by skipper John Bushell who cracked 45 as Elton eased to a comfortable win.

Walshaw's hopes of regaining top spot were unceremoniously quashed when they entertained Atherton at Sycamore Road.

But they must have been quite happy at the tea interval after making 164 for 8 mainly thanks to professional Jon Fielding who blasted a fine 80 and captain Rob Faulkner who made 45.

But undaunted the visitors went for the vital win needed to push them into the top four despite Bret Collins' 4 for 43.

With 18 needed from the final two overs it looked to all the world a drawn game but 17 runs from the penultimate over set up a dramatic two wicket victory in the final over.
