A DEPLETED Eccleston side was left hanging on for a draw at Vulcan on Saturday.
They won the toss and inserted the Newton side, but found themselves under attack by the aggressive Vulcan batsmen.
The innings closed on 180-7. Top scorer was Wright with 55 and he was well supported by R. Kerfoot (33), K. Kerfoot (24) and C. Ignatius (20).
H. Ashurst was the pick of the Eccleston bowlers with 1-31 off14 overs.
He was well supported by K. Holden with 2-29 off six overs.
When Eccleston took the crease, wickets soon began to tumble.
However, the manged to creep to 96-9 and a draw. Top scorer was A. Atherden (30. But H. Ashurst (15) and D. Ashurst (11) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
Vulcan's fine bowling was spearheaded by P. Ikin (3-27) and C. Ignatius (2-10).
