YES it's true! Lancashire Lynx on the right end of forty-odd points victory - and away from home too.

The ever-loyal band of Lynx supporters were cock-a-hoop at a long-overdue two points in the 45-28 victory over Doncaster Dragons.

The win takes them back above Oldham although they still have two games in hand on the Lancashire side.

In the first couple of minutes Neil Parsley made a break after scrumhalf Neil Flannagan had kicked through to the Dragons try line.

Stumbling, he only managed to knock the ball forward when it seemed easer to score.

Doncaster came back, attacking the Lynx line and were unlucky not to score when winger John Okul received a forward pass.

Flannagan confidently kicked Lynx into the lead with a drop goal in front of the post.

Doncaster gained a penalty after the kick off and second row. Richard Hewitt ran at the Lynx defence breaking through easily before offloading to centre Chris Verity.

Verity ran out wide and passed to loose forward Tony Miller who scored in the right corner.

The Lancashire side's defence was working overtime with the Dragons moving up fast,

Guy Adams switched the play from right to left to leave the vistor's defence looking decidedly thin and Hewitt went over for a deserved try.

Sheer determination from Lynx to keep the ball alive from their own 20 ended with Neil Alexander scoring to round off a great team effort.

They piled the pressure on Doncaster and after converting two penalties Flannagan scored in the left corner to put some space between them. Full back Lee Mahar was then red carded for reacting to a comment from Flannagan. Half-time score 19 points to 8.

Lynx had to defend heavily at the hub of things, made a great break down the centre of the field before passing to Alexander who scored under the sticks,

Danny Jones converted and Lynx had the start they wanted.

Dragons captain John Bruce took advantage of a short kick-off and scored a well earned try down the right wing to spark a mini comeback.

Doncaster were running hot now and centre Jimmy Walker scored another minutes later and they were now within touching distance of the Lynx score.

The visitors were again desperately defending and Alexander stopped a certain try with a last gasp tackle on his line.

Great work from P J Solomon and Murray put Abram through who skipped through some shoddy defending to score.

Again the Lynx side had to defend, repeatedly giving away the ball as Doncaster camped on their ten-metre line.

Solomon was tackling eveywhere in the defensive line as he marshalled his men around him to keep the Yorkshire side out.

Murray again in the thick of it picked up a ricocheted ball and put Parsley over for his second try.

Neil Alexander scored a couple of easy tries at the end in what for Lynx was a thoroughly deserved first victory in 12 games. The Lynx players have asked me to pass on their thanks to the Lynx supporters who have stuck with them.

Next home game for Lynx is York Wasps on June 27 at 3pm.
