A LEIGH mum is to organise a series of fun-d raising events to thank Pendlebury Children's Hospital for saving her brave tot's life.

Alison Parr, 23, of Briar Grove, has gone through months of torture as her two-years-old son, Jonathan, has been treated for a rare form of brain tumour.

But now he is on the mend, and soon his treatment will be transferred from the hospital to the Christie Institute.

And Alison (pictured) wants to say thanks on Jonathan's behalf.

She and helpers are planning to organise a charity show, raft race, fancy dress pub crawl and dinner dance.

She said: "If anyone would like to join us, provide sponsorship or raffle prizes I'd be delighted to hear from them. Everything will be done officially through the hospital on their proper headed forms.

"We'd just like to give the hospital something back, and help other little ones in the same position."

Jonathan is suffering from ependymona, a cancer only diagnosed in three or four children throughout Europe each year.

Jonathan who was born in March 1997 at Billinge weighed in at 9lb 6oz and was a perfectly normal baby.

At the age of 10 months he suffered a convulsion, but it wasn't until he was 17 months old that doctors recognised his condition.

Since then the little Tellytubbies fan has been undergoing treatment at Pendlebury.

Single mum, Alison, who has an older son, Oliver, said: "He has been so brave. He is doing fine now and before he finishes his treatment we'd like to raise some cash to pay the hospital back.

"Then we will probably do something for Christies when he is released hopefully all clear from there."

Anyone who wishes to help in any way can contact Alison on 682754.
