A THOUGHT was spared for carers throughout the borough at a conference in Radcliffe Civic Suite this week.
The Carers Consultation Conference, organised by social services, was aimed at highlighting the hard work of the carers and the opportunity and facilities available to them.
It also looked at ways to develop the national carers strategy to a local level.
Mr Jim Wilson, social services chief officer, said the event was very interesting and informative.
"The conference was excellent; it brought together representatives from health and social services to look at the best support which can be given for the invaluable work undertaken by carers in the borough.
"A number of suggestions were made including having a centre for carers. We will be having a follow-up day in about six months' time to look at the progress made."
