REFUGEES from Kosovo are enjoying their third week of safety in Bury.
A total of 72 Kosovars are currently being housed at the Geoffrey Kershaw Centre. Ten of the original arrivals have been reunited with relatives in London and are currently living in the capital.
As Nato troops begin securing Kosovo following this week's peace treaty with Serbia, the Kosovars are continuing with a programme of education and social visitors in the Bury area.
English and computer lessons are the main interests of education while the community has rallied round to treat the refugees to a host of days out and fun activities.
Councillor John Byrne, deputy leader of Bury Council, said: "It is too early to talk about their return to Kosovo despite the peace deal. There is too much work to be done by the Nato forces to make the area safe."
