The search is on again for Bury's Woman of the Year.

The contest, in aid of Bury Hospice, is looking for women from all walks of life who could be worthy of the title.

Organisers are hoping that the event will not only be a big fund-raiser but also acknowledge the work of thousands of women in the borough do everyday.

Mrs Margaret Robinson, hospice fund-raising co-ordinator, said: "We want to celebrate the work of women who have given 100 per cent to whatever work they do whether it is success in their profession, voluntary work or just being a good friend or neighbour."

They must live or work in Bury. You can nominate any women aged 18 or over whom you feel meets the criteria. Entries will be considered by a panel of independent judges and 50 nominations will be shortlisted.

The winner will be announced at a special lunch to be held on October 21 at the Elizabethan Suite. All nominations must be submitted to the Hospice Appeals Office, 89, The Rock, Bury, Lancs, BL9 0NB by August 6.
