COUNCILLORS have approved plans to boost investment and the local environment at Dalehead Place, Clinkham Wood.
A scheme by County Palatine Housing Limited of Leigh to turn unused first-floor flats into a gymnasium with new frontages to shops below, in a bid to attract business investment, was given the go-ahead. Currently, only two shops are open and the council have difficulty in renting the flats above. Residents are also concerned that the area has become a target for youth-related crime.
The new gym will feature an aerobics hall, gym, sunbed/solarium, changing facilities and a beauty salon.
