THE low turn-out in the recent Euro elections has been blamed on apathy and disinterest.

This is far from the truth.

The penny has dropped for the electorate. The proposed elimination of our pound and foreign bureaucrats meddling in our affairs has affronted our people.

The European Union has been boycotted in this country by abstentions from the polling booths.

Half the battle for our independence has been won.

However, the buffet car on the Euro gravy-train won't be given up lightly. There are still lots of "goodies" worth acquisition by political upstarts.

D BULLEN (Mr), Albany Road, Blackburn.
