REGARDING your article, "Radio ham caught without licence (LET, June 11), I do wish that newspapers would get it right - this person clearly was no such thing. In fact, he was a CB enthusiast, operating illegally, in that his aerial was certainly not within the specifications laid down, and, judging from mention of a high-power transmitter, and causing interference.

Radio amateurs have to study for years to get to 'A' licence standard, some finding it harder than others to reach the dreaded 12 words per minute on the key. But, there you go, that is the difference between the two.

The CB fan walks into a shop with a bunch of fivers, purchases whatever, erects an aerial, and that is that - a fan, no more, no less, so could we, please, ask you to distinguish between the two?
