PLEASINGTON Ladies are sweeping all before them this summer.

The club's scratch team has already completed a hat-trick of tournament victories.

And the handicap team is bidding to bring back a further title by winning the Lancashire Handicap Shield at Hesketh Golf Club later this month.

The quartet of Natalee Evans, Jennifer Adams, Rosemary Pickup and Jeanette Williams set the ball rolling by winning the East Lancashire Ladies Scratch Shield over their home course in June, when Evans also won the individual honours.

Next on the hit-list was the Lancashire Scratch Shield with Pleasington advancing through the group stage and a knockout round to reach the last four at Morecambe.

The team of Evans, Adams, Pickup, Susan Caton and ladies' secretary Janette Smart, then accounted for Ashton-in-Makerfield.

And in the afternoon they beat Formby 3-2 to lift the title, with Williams jetting back from her holiday in Spain just in time to play in the final in place of Smart. The hat-trick then came in the Bell Cup, a scratch competition for clubs within a 35-mile radius of Manchester.

Pleasington battled their way through five rounds before beating Werneth GC 6-1 in the semi-finals with a team of Evans, Adams, Pickup, Williams, Smart, Val Hyman and Janet Stevens.

With Jackie Soutter then coming in for Hyman, Pleasington beat Cheshire club Sandiway to lift the trophy.

The big date for the handicap team now comes on Monday, September 27 when they will join the three other Lancashire area winners for finals day in Southport.

Pleasington won the East Lancashire section and will be looking to Smart, Linda Singleton, Ann Hardcastle, Jean Robinson, Beth Brown, June Ramshaw and Ann Shann to put another piece of silverware in the cabinet.
