THERE was an unusual tie for fastest time in the Wigan Wheelers 25-mile time trial held on Sunday morning on the Garstang course when Dave Ebbrell of the Blackburn and District CTC returned an excellent 55mins 42secs ride to equal exactly the time of John Bunting of Rochdale to share the major honours.

Of the other East Lancashire-based riders Fraser Snape of Read and the North Lancs RC, was fastest in 57mins 14secs with the 57mins 32secs of Dave Brown (NLRC) also giving him the best veteran on age standard award.

Peter Haigh of Nelson Wheelers returned 1hour 0mins 27secs, Bob Jones (NLRC) returned 1hr 2mins 16ecs and Steve Adair (NLRC) took first handicap award with an improvement to 1hr 2mins 42secs. Mal Gill (NLRC) clocked 1hr 4mins 05secs and Malcolm Eccles, of the Rossendale Road Club, 1hr 5mins 16secs.
