A NURSERY school's web site, which has been accessed by people from all over the world, has been picked by the Times Educational Supplement to be highlighted as a 'cool school.'

Headteacher at Rosegrove Nursery School, Burnley, Val Taylor, got interested in the net about two years ago and eight months ago began working on a website for the school.

In the last four months the site has had 300 hits and been accessed by people from America, Australia, New Zealand and the Arab States.

The school's site is already featured in the list on the Times Educational Supplement web site andit has been picked as one of the five top 'cool schools' to get a special mention.

Miss Taylor said: "It is an ongoing process and I keep adding to the site each week. It has information about the school, links for parents and teachers and activities which can be down-loaded for three to five year olds.

"We have a gallery which features art work from the nursery children, which was scanned in and put on the system. We are also going to have topics such as poems and recipes and every time we do a topic we add it to the site."

The site also has a virtual post office where people can pick a postcard, select a picture, write a message and send it via e-mail to a friend.

Miss Taylor said: "We have had a lot of positive feedback from parents and it is geared to parents and their children working through the site together.

"It is bright and colourful and has about 15 pages with lots of links from those. There is a scruffy dog which leads you through the site.

"Using the Internet is another way of reaching out to parents and giving them activities to do with their children, as well as telling them about what it happening at the school. The site is constantly updated so there is always something new for people to look at."

The school's web address is http://members.aol.com/RosegrovNS/
