THREE Great Harwood Rovers teams had mixed New Year fortunes.
The Under-14s started the year by launching themselves to the top of the tightly-contested EW Cartons Accrington Junior Red League.
The unfortunate victims were Barrowford Celtic who succumbed to the four-goal onslaught of hit-man Mathew Pinnington. Liam Mack added a further goal to register a 5-1 victory.
The Under-16s were weakened by illness but still looked like coasting home when 2-0 up at half-time through strikes by Johnny Andrews and Phil Rushton.
However, visitors Burnley Belvedere came out more determined in the second half and managed to clinch a 2-2 draw and a share of the points.
The Under-12s produce a lacklustre performance against a very strong Blue Star side which led to a 7-1 beating. The only consolation was that Rovers scored the best goal of the game.
