MR L Lawes (Letters, June 13), knows quite well that I am the same D Pearson who is a Conservative councillor, seeing that he has been a close friend of my family for more years than I care to remember.

I was not trying to make any political point, just that enough money has been wasted on the Dome and it was time to cut our losses and scrap the project.

I have to concede that it was the last Conservative government which began the project.

However, after three years in office, the Labour government has carried on with the project and wasted yet more taxpayers' money.

It does not matter who is responsible for the huge amounts of money been wasted on the Dome. It should be seen as the failure it is and closed down.

Unfortunately, politicians of all parties are often reluctant to admit that a mistake has been made.

D PEARSON (Mr), Rawstorne Street, Blackburn.
