YOUNG entrepeneurs have been given a helping hand into the business world, thanks to a £10,000 boost.
BNFL's UK Fuel Business, based at Springfields, near Preston, will fund a development manager to lead Lancashire's Young Enterprise Scheme, costing £5,000 per annum for two years.
Through the scheme students learn how to set up and run their own companies for one academic year.
They must produce business plans, raise capital, appoint board members, maintain company records and put together a final report.
The new development manager Michala Garlock said: "With this generous donation BNFL will provide more young people in the area with the opportunity to increase their employment chances and develop attitudes and skills for enterprise.
"Investing in young people means investing in tomorrow's employers and employees."
BNFL is working in partnership with Littlewoods, United Utilities and Lancashire Area West Training and Enterprise Council (LAWTEC) to fund Michala's post.
