RAY HILTON is revving up for the AMCA British Championships.

The 25-year-old motorcycling ace began racing some 10 years ago.

A member of the Leigh Motorcycling Club, he has quickly moved up through the ranks from junior to senior to expert.

Ray competes every Sunday in the North West.

He said: "In 1999 I finished third overall in the AMCA North West Championships as a 250cc expert.

"I was then put forward to compete in the qualifying rounds for the AMCA British Chamionships."

After competing in three qualifying rounds, Ray was one of only eight riders out of 40 to reach the 2000 championships.

Eight riders qualify from each of the three areas around the country. These 24 newly qualified riders join the fastest 15 riders from the last year's championships to compete for the title.

"This year I have been competing on a 250cc Yamaha which I will be racing in the AMCA British Championships," added Ray.
