WATFORD central defender Mark Williams has again been linked with a possible move to Burnley.

The Northern Ireland international has been told he can leave Vicarage Road if a suitable offer comes in for the 29-year-old.

The Clarets were said to be interested when he left Chesterfield under the Bosman ruling 12 months ago.

And with Williams keen to get his career back on track after being made surplus to requirements at Watford, Burnley have again been put in the frame.

Manchester City striker Gareth Taylor has also been touted as a potential summer target for the Clarets but an approach for the former Sheffield United front man doesn't currently appear to be on the cards.

Ternent's interest in a striker could be determined following talks with Ian Wright, who the manager is due to meet later this week to ascertain whether he wants to play on with Burnley next season.

Wright was pursuing his other sporting interest at the weekend when he was at Queen's Club for the semi-finals of the Stella Artois tennis tournament.

A keen tennis player himself, Wright was interviewed by the BBC but didn't shed any light on his future career plans, saying only that he didn't want to see out his playing days as a fading star as Ian Rush did with Wrexham.
