BRAVE Susan Walsh (pictured) took the plunge by having her head shaved, and raised more than £150 for charity.

Susan, 32, who runs Walsh Newsagents in Shorrock Lane, Mill Hill, went under the trimmers at a charity night at the Duke of York Inn, Waterside, Darwen.

She decided to raise money for Sunshine Project International, which is an Egyptian children's charity, as her friend Norman Crook, of Ewood, sponsors a child called Omar in an Egyptian orphanage.

Hairdresser Norma King from Headcase Hairdressers in Mill Hill stepped in to help.

Another drinker in the pub, Shaun Whitehead, 19, of York Lane, Langho, decided to join in on the spur of the moment. He also had his head shaved and raised a further £30.

Susan's mum Dorothy White, said: "The orphanage have recently taken in some more babies and Susan wanted to raise money to help buy equipment. The headshave was the quickest way she could think of raising the money. She was terrified when the time came, but she was determined to go through with it."
