COUNCILLORS from all sides of the chamber agreed to spend almost £350,000 on a tenants' ballot to decide whether to sell off 10,000 council homes in Blackburn and Darwen.
No comment was made when Blackburn with Darwen Council's executive committee approved the spend.
Some £125,000 had already been set aside to fund a ballot, and the committee agreed to take another £222,000 from reserve and balance funds.
A non-profit making company called Twin Valley Homes wants to take over the council's homes and claims it will spend £107million over five years on improvements which the council cannot afford.
Videos and booklets explaining the possible changes have been sent to council tenants.
